On Friday night’s preseason opener, it was Sage Rosenfels who started the game for the Minnesota Vikings against the Indianapolis Colts, meaning that he won the competition with Tarvaris Jackson for the starting job.
Before Rosenfels was signed by the Vikings in a trade with the Houston Texans, he started five games for the Texans last season. And Jackson started for the Vikings at the end of last season. He helped the team win the NFC North and led in the wild-card loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
It had been uncertain for months whether Rosenfels or Jackson would have chance to have the starting job as the Vikings was chasing Brett Favre. After the former Green Bay Packers quarterback decided to remain retired and not to put on vikings jersey, the competition between the two again became the focus on the Vikings.
